Are you anything like me? I love photography, but I have no idea how to use my camera. I mean, point and shoot is pretty easy, but my camera has all these settings that obviously help you to make your pictures better. The problem is that I lack the confidence (and ability) to play around and work out what all of them really mean.
Just For Fun
By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
July has been a bit of a whirlwind for me. I feel like it was only a few days since I wrote my June summary. Looking back, this month has been rather chilled, and very little has actually been achieved.
We do not remember days; we remember moments

This month has been all about getting my new look blog back up and running! After a turbulent 38 days of to-ing and fro-ing I managed to move my site from wordpress to host it through hostgator, which means it is now far more customisable than it ever could be before. It also means that I have been having to re-format everything published to date, and re-upload almost all my pictures for every blog post I have ever written, which has been insanely time consuming (and is not yet remotely completed, so if you see a old post missing pictures, fear not, they will return over the coming weeks).
Resolutions are popular because everyone feels they could use a little improvement.
– Marilu Henner
This year I won’t make a resolution to change. Yes, I want to be thinner and fitter. Yes, I should probably give up at least some of the insane amount of chocolate that I eat. Yes, I could vow to become more organised or to save money. But is any of it actually going to happen?
I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine.

Since I currently cannot upload any photos, I have decided to join the A-Z Travel Challenge. It has been going around for a while now, but it isn’t a time-specific idea, so I choose to do mine now.
The idea is to copy the questions into your blog, and answer honestly using your travel experiences. Then add a picture or two to make it pretty and tag another blogger to continue the challenge.
MY A-Z TRAVEL CHALLENGE
Age you went on your first international trip?
I had to check with my mum for this, apparently I went to Lanzarote just after my first birthday. I have no memory of this trip as you can imagine, but I was very lucky as a child in that my parents were able to take me on a foreign holiday at least once a year. From the ages of 1 to 18, my parents took me on holiday to Lanzarote (3 times), Spain (twice), Tenerife (4 times), USA (3 times), France (4 times), Cyprus (once), Madeira (once) and Majorca (once). They also allowed (and paid for) me to go on two foreign trips with school, one to France and one to Austria. My parents are pretty awesome.
Celebrate what you want to see more of.

Every other blog seems to be doing a New Year emotional round-up/resolutions for the future post, I’m not sure how this will turn out, so although my intentions are to be less philosophical, and more practical, I may get swept away in the theoretical side of New Years changes!
So, five things have I learnt this year, and what will I be taking forward to 2014.
I know what I have to do if I want to lose weight and stay healthy: eat a proper diet and exercise. All I’ve got to do is apply it.
– John Candy
The exercise regimen began in earnest this week. I have been to the gym twice (and actually done two pretty strenuous workouts!)
Sam and my Brother-in-law (his brother) who we are going away with this summer, have been having a little competition to get into shape for the trip. There is no doubt in it, they have both lost a hell of a lot of weight between them, and gained a lot of muscle and general fitness. My sister-in-law, is also super skinny. So that leaves me. The unfit, tubby one, who refuses to look like a whale in photos!
If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.
– Oscar Wilde
There comes the time before any holiday, weekend break, 2 week summer holiday, or full on expedition where you have to start thinking about what you are going to take to read. For most people, this is in the airport on the way out of the country, or at most a week in advance.
