As a very young man, I thought of Europe as a place that could not exist except in the imagination, in glorious dreams, and through the careful lies of the silver screen.

And finally, the last of the honeymoon ideas blogs! It is time for offbeat Europe, which has been the hardest for me to write, possibly because Europe always seems so close to me, so everything is within reach! But there are still some hidden gems and unique experiences to be had in this wonderfully diverse continent.
Why head to Estonia? For starters, Tallinn is home to an incredible pancake restaurant (Kompressor), and who doesn’t want to eat pancakes on their honeymoon? It’s also surprisingly cheap, so your honeymoon money goes even further – and after the expense of a wedding, this is a massive bonus! The countryside around Tallinn is beautifully green, but also full of hidden secrets from the days of the Soviet Union. Head to Estonia for pancakes and a hidden part of Europe.
Kakslauttanen Glass Igloos and Cabins
Only available to stay from the end of August to mid April, this is a once in a lifetime experience. The resort within the Arctic circle in Finland offers log cabins and glass igloos to stay in. Throught the winter, it is possible to take part in winter sports such as snowmobiling, as well as spot the northern lights. Head to a glass igloo to drift off to sleep under the stars.
With its stunning coastline and historic hilltop towns, Croatia is slowly becoming a more popular travel destination. Various tows and cities around the country are used as filming locations in Game of Thrones, so you may well feel like you already know the place when you visit. Croatia bonus, Galesnjak Island is shaped like a heart: perfect for a honeymooning couple! Head to Croatia for a wallet-friendly, warm wonderland.
Iceland is very different in the winter months compared to the summer, but at either time of year, this volcanic island is truly spectacular. Whether the waterfalls are flowing or frozen it will not matter, the geysers will spout regardless of the weather and the thermal pools are an essential destination. Head to Iceland to relax after the stresses of wedding planning!
Sometimes described as Europe’s Hawaii, sometimes described as Eden. The Azores are a perfect offbeat honeymoon destination for a couple that love the outdoors, nature and adventure. From whale watching to surfing, canyoning to horse riding the Azores will provide more than enough activities to fill your days. Head to the Azores for a crowd-free Eden.
And that’s it. The end of the ideas.
